Billionaire's Candied Bacon | Treat Yo'self

April 15, 2014

If you aren't a Billionaire, don't worry I still got you! Promise, you can make these candied bacon, and the bonus- it'll taste like a billion bucks! Growing up, I wasn't such a bacon fan, but these "candied bacon" are something to write home about. I took ordinary bacon strips and dolled them up! Every once and a while we all should just treat ourselves to a little pampering. Bacon didn't need a makeover or anything, just some sprucing up. I dressed the bacon up in brown sugar and some maple syrup, roasted it, and bamn wham shabam- it turned into candy. Do like bacon and treat yo'self to some sugar every now and then. Denying yourself  a little sweetness will only make you crave it even more. Give in to your craving, treat yo'self.

The ultimate breakfast delight or pre-dinner snack (for my family at least, and I can't make enough), this Billionaire's Candied Bacon will steal the show and it's as easy as Sunday morning! Come and get 'er!

Preheat your oven to 400' F. Line two baking sheets with aluminum foil (to prevent from sticking) and mist two baking wire racks. (If you don't have wire racks, you can lay the bacon directly on the aluminum foil).

Separate the bacon into strips and dry them with paper towel. In a medium wide bowl, combine the sugar and maple syrup. Completely coat both sides of the bacon in the sugar mixture, press sugar firmly into each strip.

Arrange bacon in a single layer on the wire racks.

Cook bacon for about 10 minutes. Turn the bacon over, and continue cooking until bacon is cooked through and the syrup has become nice and thick, about 5-10 minutes. (Be sure to keep an eye on the bacon, you don't want the sugar to begin to burn).

Transfer to a lightly oiled plate. Allow to cool for the sugar to set.
