Baked Apple Cider Doughnuts
December 12, 2017
Happy Hanukkah! Make a batch of these festive holiday doughnuts to celebrate the holidays with me. I used blue coloring for the glaze, but you can also switch it out for red and green to celebrate Christmas with them too! Have a holly jolly holiday season!Â

Baked Apple Cider DoughnutsÂ
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Total time: 20 minutesÂ
Yield: 12 dougnuts
Â
Ingredients:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugarÂ
2 eggs
1/2 cup apple cider, boiled
1 cup apple sauceÂ
2 teaspoons vanillaÂ
2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
Â
Coating:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
Â
Glaze:
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
3 tablespoons milk
Blue food coloringÂ
Â
Directions:Â
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease two standard doughnut pans ( should be 12Â doughnuts in total).Â
Â
In a medium bowl, beat together both sugars, eggs, apple cider (cooled), apple sauce, and vanilla until smooth. Add in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt, and stir together until smooth.Â
Â
Add the dough into a piping bag or ziplock bag (just trim a little corner for the dough to come out) and fill the wells of the doughnut pans nearly to the top.Â
Â
Bake doughnuts in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until cake tester inserted into the center of the doughnut comes out clean. Remove doughnuts from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes in the pan. Transfer doughnuts to a rack.Â
Â
Using a ziplock bag, add in the coating ingredients: sugar and cinnamon. Gently shake each doughnut into the coating until completey coated in the cinnamon sugar. Continue with the rest of the doughnuts until all are coated.Â
Â
Prepare the glaze. Whisk together confectioners sugar and milk until smooth. Pour the glaze onto a plate and sprinkle some blue food coloring in the middle. Using a fork spread the food coloring throughout the white glaze to achieve a tie-dye look. Add as much coloring as you want to achieve the perfect shade of blue. Â Dip each doughnut into the glaze, place back on the rack, and allow the glaze to harden.Â
