Chicken BBQ Burger
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Total Time: 17 minutes
Yield: 4 to 5 burgers
Ingredients:
1 lb ground chicken
1/3 cup apple, minced (about ½ an apple)
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons BBQ sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
5 burger buns, potato or whole-wheat
Toppings: (all optional)
5 slices of cheese
1 cup spinach or Arugula
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
Directions:
In a bowl, mix together apple, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, BBQ sauce, salt, and pepper. Add chicken to the bowl and combine the burgers to distribute the flavors evenly and form 5 patties.
In a non-stick skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 6 minutes on each side, until cooked all the way through. (If you have a grill, you can grill the burgers too!).
Serve burgers with whole wheat buns topped with your choice of cheese, Arugula or spinach, and extra BBQ sauce.
